Splines will draw into the material when nut is tightened, the head draws tight to the materiel the bolt is passing through giving a near flush finish. The head of the bolt will draw into most material. Good to use in applications where a bolt head will be in the way when installed. Can be used in many applications. On Garage Doors we use these as track bolts on 3″ Track or heavy 2″ Track, bearing plates to clear the cable drums. Have had applications when the bolt was needed to mount torsion springs to the center bearing plate. This a good item to have a few of on hand in the shop or on the truck, hard to find in hardware stores or box stores.
